Celebratory Events with the Cape Chamber

We love celebrating at the Cape Chamber! Our staff has been caught mentioning ribbon cuttings and groundbreakings as the favorite part of their jobs on many occasions. We are honored to be a part of your day and will do everything in our power to ensure it is a smooth, enjoyable event.

Preparing for your celebratory event

Marketing Your Event

While we will invite local media to your Ribbon Cutting, a great way to get added promotion is by utilizing the customizable media kit provided to you upon the scheduling of your ceremony. Sharing details about your event on your social media outlets and website are also great ways to bolster attendance.

Cutting the Ribbon

The best location to cut the ribbon is in front of an elevated sign, door or wall that has your company name or logo.

Think about who you would like to be in the photo with you. The business owner or manager will be the person who actually holds the scissors and cuts the ribbon. You may also want to include family members, staff and Chamber members. Chamber Ambassadors will be in attendance to hold the ribbon so your staff can be front and center.

Refreshments

Some businesses like to provide refreshments and a tour for their guests. This is not a requirement, but again, it can be a nice touch. Should you choose to provide refreshments, consider the time of day - if morning or afternoon, we suggest keeping it light, as many folks will need to head back to the office.

Photos and Video

The Chamber will post your Ribbon Cutting on our website as a Chamber event. This will ensure that we promote it via our website and weekly newsletters.

What to Expect the Day of Your Celebration

Chamber staff will arrive approximately 15 minutes prior to your scheduled ceremony. During this time, we will collect photo and video footage to share after your ribbon cutting.

At your scheduled time, Chamber staff will introduce a representative of your business to share a few words. We ask that you please share the following information:

  • Your company's name
  • When and where the company was founded
  • What occasion you are celebrating today (grand opening, remodel, new ownership, etc.)
  • What your business does

After your comments, it's time to cut the ribbon (or break ground)! Chamber staff will direct attendees to the proper location and will instruct you on how to cut the ribbon (or throw the dirt).

You cut the ribbon (toss the dirt), everyone cheers, and the Chamber staff will present you with your ribbon to keep.

Once uploaded, photos and videos captured at the ceremony will be shared with you digitally.
